2025 Reading Plan Whole Year

Our Daily Bible Reading / Devotion Plan

S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer.

The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2 that we are to be "transformed by the renewing of our minds."  Reading God's word helps us grow, but also helps us see things as God sees them.  When we face life's situations, we will respond as Jesus did.  Reading the Bible systematically, and journaling what we learned will help us see how God is guiding us through life.

First, you need a Bible, a pen or pencil, a Notebook, and the Daily Reading Plan.
Write Todays Date, Title and Topic, and Page for that day at the top of the page in the notebook.

S for Scripture - Open your Bible to the reading found in the plan for today's date. Take time to read & and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you, and write it in your journal.

O for Observation - What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words, in your journal.

A for Application - Personalize the verse you chose.  Ask yourself how it applies to your life right now.  It may be instruction, encouragement, revelation, or correction in your life. Write how the verse applies to you today.

P for Prayer - This can be simply asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be insight on what God may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation, so listen to what God has to say, then write it out.

Finally, write Todays Date, Title and Topic, and Page for that day in the front of your notebook, creating a running Table of Contents.

If this seems overwhelming, take it slow and keep it simple. If you miss a day, start again the next day.  The important thing is to show up for your daily appointment, because God is always waiting for you!

You should do SOAP when you are at your best.  Some people like to do SOAP first thing in the morning, while others are not at their best in the morning.  They do it at lunch, in the afternoon, or in the evening.

Find a time when you can concentrate and enjoy quiet time. Don't rush!  Allow this to become an important daily Time Alone WITH God.  As you read, ask God to speak to your heart.
